Swim Safe

It’s the time of year when families will be visiting the local beaches so this week we had the RNLI visit our school. They shared important facts regarding staying safe when at the beach. Children learnt how this important organisation keeps us safe and the ways in which the lifeboats and lifeguards help save lives when people are in danger. The lifeguards talked to the children about the different flags and the rules of the beach to keep them safe.  
We are very excited as Mrs Crompton has been asked to coordinate the Swim Safe Programme which is being rolled out across the UK.  The programme was launched in 2013 in Cornwall. This year it’s being rolled out across 23 locations. 

Haddon Dene School has signed up to take Years 3-6 children to Margate beach in July. They will take part in a session to learn about water safety in the open air. A letter will be coming home soon. Please visit the swim safe website for more information:
