Pupils inspired by Macbeth

Macbeth at Haddon Dene

The Prep School were extremely fortunate to watch an amazing performance of Macbeth, performed by The Young Shakespeare Company. The pupils really enjoyed the audience participation, in which they were encouraged to discuss the characters’ feelings and what they thought might happen next.

What was particularly great was that they made a difficult story accessible to even the youngest children. Fantastic acting from all involved, especially the youngest volunteers! We can’t wait for the next show.

We are very proud to say that the theatre company praised the children and said that they were the best school they have performed to. They have visited over 800 so we are obviously delighted!

Quotes from some of our children:

  • Maxie, Year Five: “It was amazing! Lady Macbeth was really good, she even cried real tears when she was fake crying!”
  • Vikas, Year Three: “It was really dramatic. The witches were really creepy and I enjoyed playing Malcolm. I was the king!”

Mrs Cook and Mrs Diamond said it was an amazing production, the children were mesmerised and captivated from start to finish!
