Haddon Dene Preparatory School partnership with Hlabangane Primary School
We are excited to announce that we have created a partnership with a school in South Africa. The school is called ‘Hlabangane Primary School’ in Soweto. The children who attend this school are orphans. This has come to fruition through the charity Young People Matter (YPM Charity) and Mrs Rosengarten (Ava’s mum in Year Two).
As part of the charity’s 10 Year Anniversary Celebration, Young People Matter is rolling out their first ever international Working in Partnership Project. This year, the charity’s flagship 101 Community Challenge project will join forces with Hlabangane Primary School in Soweto, South Africa. We as a school are very keen to support them.
According to government data (statssa.gov.za), 30 million South Africans are living in poverty and most of them are children. The 101 Int’l Community Challenge is a great way to bring international education to life for young learners, and the benefits of doing joint projects with international schools are wide-reaching. For students, partnerships can help develop their core skills and an appreciation for cultural diversity. They build social and emotional skills like empathy, curiosity and respect, creating global ambassadors. For teachers, international collaboration is a useful way of growing professionally and sharing knowledge, and teaching best practice with an international audience.
Haddon Dene Preparatory School will start its first fundraising event from Monday 4th December until the end of term.
