As with our academic work, the school places emphasis on children’s enjoyment and participation in a wide range of physical activities. Specialist coaches are used to help children develop the skills necessary for sporting success – sport is an integral part of school life.
We believe it to be important that emphasis is placed not merely on the training of the natural athlete but that every effort is made to help the less skilful enjoy taking a full part in sporting activities. Boys and girls take part in all sports in equal measure. The children are also encouraged to lead healthy, active lives on and off the sporting field.
We have a vast variety of sports within our PE sessions including netball, rugby, cricket, cross country, rounders, gymnastics and football. Each child participates in two hours of PE a week . After school PE clubs are offered in netball, rugby, cricket, gymnastics and football. Years one to six take part in one swimming session per week working on the ASA national teaching plan. We encourage each child to enjoy PE and nearly all the children will represent the school during their time here.
