Headmistress's Welcome

A very warm welcome to Haddon Dene Preparatory School.

For over 90 years, Haddon Dene has maintained an excellent reputation for providing the highest quality education and pastoral care.  Our children become confident and well-rounded model citizens with a strong sense of moral purpose.

Our aim is to give every child the opportunity to realise their fullest potential, building confidence and character by engaging them in an exceptional breadth of activities which complements their academic achievement.  Delivered by highly specialised staff, our purposefully broad and individually responsive curriculum enables the majority of our children to move on to Grammar School education.

Learning is our core purpose.  Through championing and challenging discovery we encourage children to persevere and develop resilience.  We want our children to be encouraged to explore ideas, reason, explain and justify their thinking.  At Haddon Dene, children feel secure and willing to learn from their mistakes, endeavours and successes.  This will enable them to make informed decisions and facilitate life-long learning.  We do this within a nurturing environment where everyone is kind, respectful, honest and forgiving.

We pride ourselves on the ability to build close and constructive relationships with our families.  Our school is small enough so that we know each individual child really well. We value the contribution that every child makes to our whole school community in their own right.

On a personal note, I watched my own children thrive and flourish at Haddon Dene before they transitioned to Grammar School. My children grew in confidence because they were treated as individuals, they felt special and they were not lost in the crowd.   I would encourage you to visit Haddon Dene to witness first-hand the admirable characteristics of our pupils and warmth of our setting.  We look forward to meeting you.
