About Haddon Dene

Welcome to

Haddon Dene Preparatory School , Broadstairs, Kent.

We are a small, family orientated co-educational preparatory school based in the quintessential town of Broadstairs.  Founded by Miss Olive Vyse in 1929, Haddon Dene has grown from a class of three girls into a popular and reputable preparatory school for all children aged 3-11 years.

We offer a broad education in a traditional, nurturing setting resulting in academic and sporting excellence.  We provide a strong, specialised curriculum combined with a varied extra-curricular offering giving our children the opportunity to participate in a wide array of activities. We feel it is important to give every child a chance to shine in their chosen pursuits as well as being encouraged to try new experiences.  Every child is seen and heard; they feel special.  In our weekly assembly, children are selected to receive a special red tie for outstanding effort or conduct.  They are recognised for any achievements in extra-curricular activities or school pursuits.  This experience builds confidence and reinforces a growth mind-set for our children.

Our small class sizes and experienced, dedicated teachers ensure the individual strengths and needs of each child are recognised.  As a result of our outstanding Kent Test success rates, the vast majority of our children transition to excellent, local grammar schools.

Our school values are ingrained in every child encouraging them to be kind, honest, respectful and resilient.  To be part of Haddon Dene is to be part of a family community.  Children feel safe and secure to express their individual identities.  Through championing and challenging discovery, we encourage children to persevere and develop resilience.  They are willing to learn from their mistakes, endeavours and successes.

We uphold the highest standards for uniform, behaviour and manners.  Our children are supported to consider global issues such as poverty and plastic pollution meaning that they are equipped to take responsibility for future societal guardianship.
